we are on the Do not call lsit this people keep calling us 3 times a day...........
I am realy pissed off.
any help?
The number showing up on your caller ID may not be the actual number calling you. They may be using Caller ID Spoofing and just randomly chose some unlucky person’s number.
They will never, and I mean
never, stop.
NEVER. Do not waste your time listening to worthless suggestions from people who have not gone through this phone rape – and that's exactly what it is, a form of rape. Because when you tell someone to stop doing something and they keep doing it against your will, that is the very definition of rape! And the mental anguish of these non-stop, unwanted, harassing calls is a form of mild torture.
Those who have not gone through this nightmare will tell you all sorts of pipe dream schemes that don't work, such as:
- Tell them to put you on their "Do Not Call List" (They don’t have one! They are criminals, not legitimate businesses.)
- Tell them the party they are trying to reach doesn't live there anymore. (They don't care about the name of the person. They have the number and their computer will continue to call it regardless of who owns the number. It's all a numbers game with them. More calls on their end eventually equals more money scammed out of innocent people.)
- Lie to them by telling them you are some sort of law enforcement agent or that you are recording the calls. (Even if they believed you – which they won't- they know they can't be touched in their backwards, corrupt banana republic poor excuse of a country – often the Dominican Republic.)
- Report them to this or that government agency ranging from the state all the way up to federal level. (The government does not investigate or care about individual cases and will do absolutely nothing to help you as an individual.)
- Ask the phone company to block the calls. (My phone company has been absolutely worthless in this area only offering to block just 3 or 4 numbers, no more. If it is toll-free number, they'll never block it for you.)
- Put your name on the national Do Not Call list. (This does not work because often times the calls come from foreign countries and besides, no matter where the calls originate from, there are absolutely no enforcement provisions for violators of the Do Not Call list.)
You have only 3 options:
- Accept it and continue getting the calls non-stop for years (and YES, they will last for years! Unfortunately I know from first hand experience.)
- Change your phone number. (My only problem with this, was that the poor sap who got my old number would now start getting the calls, and I could not morally do that to any human being!)
- Or get something like a Caller ID Manager.
I am not connected with this product or any company selling it. I am just telling you (and others on similar boards who are going through the same thing), from one person to another who has gone through this nightmare, that after over a year of non-stop harassing calls, and trying EVERYHTING short of changing my phone number, this is the ONLY thing that worked. Period!
This device has its pros and cons. Here they are:
PRO- It is the only way to stop your phone from actually ringing through with these unwanted calls.
- You can block any specific number from ever ringing through.
- You can block any number based just on its area code, including any toll-free number by blocking based on the first 3 digits, such as 800, 866, 877, 888, etc. This is helpful as these scumbags often change just the last 7 digits, but keep the area code, and there are only a limited number of toll-free prefixes - and ALL of those can be pre-blocked!
- You can block private calls from ringing through that don't show up as any number.
- Any private call from a legitimate person you may know can still go to your answering machine/service to leave you a message.
CON- Any number (including any number you block) "rings" silently the first few rings until the device determines if it is a blocked number or an allowed number. This results in your phone sometimes only ringing out loud once or twice before it goes to your answering machine or service. Sometimes you may not get to the phone in time.
- The thing costs a hefty $100.
You can weigh the pros and cons yourself to see if it is worth you getting one. All I can say is that it is the best investment I have made in a long time and it has stopped 99% of the calls! And that 1% or so that gets through always gets added onto the blocked calls!
Good luck!
