log on and file a complaint against these people and see if we can't get some help in stopping these frauds.  their web site www.sunshinereaders.com is bogus.  they list a customer service number that does not even belong to their company, their browse button for magazine search is bogus...for looks only and their search button is also bogus.  web site is just a sham.  this is legal???

Hey, I also was scammed by Sunshine Readers, they called me informed me that they were my magazine company, (already had all my information except the routing number and my account number) I stupidly gave them my information and they two months later I started receiving magazines. I informed that I didnot want those magazines and then they started sending me the specific ones I ordered. So i was fooled into thinking they were legit.  Later one day in the middle of school ( I am a teacher) I get a call and it says UNAVAILABLE ID, so I answer because I know when my husband's job calls it also says unavailable id. this lady informs me that she is going give me a discount and all i needed to do is respond yes to the questions and make sure she had the right information.  I asked many many many many many questions to make sure that this lady was referring to my present account she answered yes to all the questions and explained that she was referring to the account I already had. We established that she had the right information and I hurriedly TRIED to get her off the phone.
A month later I noticed that my account was charged a reduced amount , two weeks later the original charge was also charged to the account. I called to ask about this and a guy named Mike told me that I had agreed to pay for a new account. I spent about an hour or more arguing with this guy about the lies he told me, he even informed me that I had made a second order, he told me that there was a recording I asked to listen to the recording and he told me I would have to call back. I told him I wanted to cancel the 2nd account he told me that I would need to payoff bought to cancel one. When I asked how much it was he told me about $4000. I asked him why it was that the last lady I spoke to told me it would cost about $600-$700 to close off the account. He informed me that he recordings of all my conversations, unfortunately I would have to call back to hear them and they were not the whole conversations, and of course the information that I mentioned above was not recorded on any of them. I even asked to speak to the manager or supervisor and he told me that he was the manager, we continued to battle and I informed him that since the first person I spoke to when I had one account told me it was between $600 and $700 to cancel that was always I was willing to pay to end the payments but still receive my magazines.
he told me that I would have to pay about $1000 because he was doing me a favor. I told him that I was willing to pay $650 because that was how much the lady before told me. He told me he had to speak to supervisor (REMEMBER BEFORE HE SAID HE WAS THE SUPERVISOR) i let him know that I had caught him in a lie. he spoke to his supervisor told me his supervisor said $1000 and no less. I refused to budge and eventually he accepted $650. with the understanding that I will continue to get magazines from both accounts (he probably did not record that) so now I have got two OK magazines (what am I going to do with that) and when I called he said that I should get my other four magazines starting around June 10th, I am planning to call tomorrow and ask why am I not still getting my first order. I wish I had read this thread before I went through all this drama because they would have been sorry that they crossed my path. I writing this because I just don't want anyone else to have these issues.

It looks like our friends from sunshine readers have decided to join us here on this site.  I guess the heat is on and they are feeling it.  So don't stop fighting them.  The  AG of MN is working so make sure you fill out the form and do it twice if they have doubled your order so that you have 2 complaints against them they have double billed you why not double your complaint to double their trouble.  Remember to call the AG from your state too and fill out paper work with them.

I call the magazines and tell them my story and most of the time they agree to cancel the magazine right there.  If you talk to the manager and you make sure to give them the web address of this site so they can read for themselves the misery this company has put people through they are shocked and don't want to have anything to do with sunshine any more.  If they don't cancel the magazine they give you the name of the company that sunshine used to process the magazines and I know for a fact that they are losing processing companies because I have been told by more then one of them that they will no longer work with sunshine after they have checked out the company for themselves.

It just sickens me to see the lies posted on this link.  Patrick is one of the kindest and most giving people that I have ever met in my life.  Perhaps his biggest flaw is that he has such a big heart and gives scum like Genea Munson (and others) a job.  There is nothing that Patrick wont do to help the people in his life, and then he just gets shit on, by these same people.  I think that these people should take a close look at their own lives because they are not in a position to say shit about Patrick.  He has worked endless hours for many years to build this company and these slanderous lies about Sunshine Readers are bullshit.  Most of the messages on this link are by bitter former employees and not customers.  Sunshine Readers has thousands of satisfied customers but unfortunately they dont post messages.  Any company will have some unsatisfied customers, as does Sunshine Readers,  but the vast majority of customers are very pleased with the service they are receiving on their account.  When you losers pick on Patrick you are way out of your league and I think you pukes just should grow-up.

I am not a former employee... I could have been a good customer had I not been lied to. When I called customer service the woman was very rude! And it does not matter if people actually did place an order (which most were tricked)... the order should be able to be discontinued at any time. Most companies have a cancel at anytime policy, but I guess crooked companies have to lie and cheat people to make the "Almighty Dollar." BTW all the names you called everybody...you should grow up.

i am still being billed- i cant cancel - and when i called sunshine some nasty guy said that i couldnt cancel and that i was stuck paying them 29.90 every month for 5 years

Has anyone had any problems with charges other than Sunshine on their cc? I turned them into the BBB and now there are charges (from other companies) that I have no idea how they got there. The day the charges posted I was at work. The is not a transaction date or a reference number of the charges that were posted. Anyone had the same problems?

if you did not authorize any charges that appear on your credit card, the first thing you should do is contact your credit card company customer service department.  tell them about the unauthorized charges and request a chargeback of the monies to your account and file a fraudulent charge use and have them investigate.  most credit card companies will take the charges off and start an investigation into the matter.  good luck my friend and may all your karma be good.
