Which does full-commission marketing programs (succeed or you don't get paid) is just the call center. They were hired to sell the Distinct Advantage Program.

The Distinct Advantage Program website refers to

Consumer Benefit Services, Inc. (CBSi) headquarters
1620 Bond Street | Naperville, Illinois 60563 | tel 630.420.6200 | fax 630.420.2294
Which appears to have created the program in the first place and appears to have hired Suntasia.

I believe if you want to complain about the marketing practices, CBSi is the logical party, as they seem to be the actual decision makers. Suntasia is just getting paid to do the marketing. Not that they aren't at fault for their practices, but they didn't design the program, and CBSi may not be aware of the abuses being committed since the consumers aren't in a position to be able to communicate directly with them.

Suntasia is unlikely to pass on any complaints to avoid losing their client. They are legally responsible for their own behavior, but CBSi may not be aware of the extent of the problems.

CBSi may also be aware of the problems, but may not care since they don't have to deal with complaints.

I thought I would pass this along to those who were curious to know. There is a website called, http://alexa.com/ which ranks millions and millions of websites in order. Sort of like radio and tv has ratings for their stations.

When I originally found the marketing companies' website and typed in wwww.suntasia.com in the web ranking box a couple of weeks ago, what came up was "no data" to rank with. Another words the site was not known by many and no one was barely clicking on it, so there was no way to tell how much traffic there was coming and going. But now, I checked it today (3/8/2006) and its ranked in 3,561,487 millionth place.

It's kind of funny b/c when you read the "overview" (information) the site has been online since May 8th of 2000. For years it stayed underneath the radar because no one knew it existed. Remember a couple of weeks ago I found it and there was "no data". All of the sudden I place the link the other day on this website and on another forum and WALLAH !! instant traffic. New rankings came out to day and as usual Suntasia is increasing in traffic. It was ranked in 1,300,000 millionth place and now it's ranked in 1,082,111 millionth place.

i have worked for suntasia for well over a year. I have had no problems with the way they have paid me and as far as all this scam shit....if the people pay attention and agree to what we are saying then it's on them. There is always going to be something about some job or someone at the job that is not kosher but thats anywhere in the freakin world so get over it. For those of us that don't lie cheat or steal our karma will be just fine.......now you might want to think of your own b/c this job is feeding the mouths of alot of children for alot of people.

mellow.gif Look, a salesman is nothing but a glorified liar. I tried doing the telmarketing thing and I didn't believe in what I was selling so I was not very convincing. Remember that there are good people out there ... just a very tiny minute percentage or fraction contains a salesman ... just the way it is. THere is nothing you can do to change it. If you say yes just one time to a salesman you are done for. So from now on remember to say NO all the time if you do not want to get hussled out of your hard earned money.

yo i worked there for a while and quit not to long ago. my manager told me that the airline vouchers were real but you were only paid in incraments so it would take you many purchases to get the 400$ i think this company is a piece of shit with a bunch of losers (and some cool people) just trying to get money. in most cases the people do say "yes", however i used to get 6 uniques a day and said a lot of bullshit do get that. it is a complete ripoff and people like me are the ones that have a good heart. they will be taken down eventually when they cant pay the rising bribe cost they pay. these people defending them on this blog are complete bullshitter and have a cold heart. ITS A SCAM JUST SAY NO TO THEM AND ASK POLITELY FOR DO NOT CALL. the BBB doesnt give a fuck about you, i always used to say, oh we are wiith the BBB. this company should be burned down, but instead will be shut down.

To begin with Suntasia Marketing is located on 8751 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL 33771 and their corporate website is Suntasia.com.

Bryon Wolf is President and CEO, Michael Berndgen is the Chief Financial Officer and Roy Eliasson is the Vice President of Management Information Systems.

There are about 8 rooms total that hold about 24 agents in each. Six of those rooms are outbound (an automatic dialer that calls you), the other 2 rooms are for inbound calls (people who call in and are curious about who called them or maybe have a complaint). There is also one big room for customer service only, where they are suppose to handle the cancellations or any other concerns from customers like being billed without having the product in hand. Any phone numbers the agent gives you for their products they're selling (Travel Agents Direct, Floridaway, Prism Communications, Distinct Advantage, Freedom Gold etc), ALL lead to the same place, Customer Service at SUNTASIA MARKETING in Largo.

Your name, address and phone number are obtained through a third party company that they purchase it from. The third party company gets their information by the products you buy, or any other transactions you do that contains your personal information. They DO NOT and are NOT allowed to have or sell your SS#, DOB etc. Once the information is bought by companies like Suntasia, it is put into their dialer system to call you. The dialer clearly labels the list of names that are brand new leads and also how many times that specific list has been called. Unfortunately, this information is only seen by the manager of the room. He or she has access to it from the bridge (the big, high desk overseeing the agents when you enter the room).

Vericheck is a software system connecting them to all the banks nationwide that confirm whether you have an open checking account or not. Grocery stores, retail stores all use them to scan your checks to make sure your account is legit.

The only information the agent has on their computer at the time when they call is your name, address and telephone number. That's it. After they give you their mumbo jumbo script about how you qualified and the “free” gifts (gas, airline vouchers etc) you'll be receiving, they tell you it's a reward for maintaining an active checking and ONLY active checking account holders qualify. They ask you for your bank name and the city you opened it in. The reason is b/c they can obtain your routing number through what else? That's right Vericheck! It is only then that many are fooled to believe that the agent has your account number as well. The excuse the agent uses is, “we need you to verify the number to make sure it's you”, but when you call their bluff they either hang up or put a manager on the phone to push for the sale and get the account. Their tactics are slick even downright insulting.

They usually say that you made a purchase through one of their 400, 1000, 1700 affiliates (pick a number yourself) and that is how your name was entered into their system for this special promotion. ALL A BIG LIE! Like I said before, they bought the names and numbers from another company for anywhere from .20 cents to up to .60 cents per name. Oh and by the way this same information can be sold to another company by the people who bought them in the first place.

If you make them mad the agent can recycle your name back into the system. B9 is the code for DNC (Do Not Call List) on their system but unfortunately many times it is not used b/c they want to get back at you. The only way to get these people off your phone is by sending them a CEASE and DESIST letter to their corporate address. Donald Booth is their lawyer and the letter should be addressed to him. When they call again ask them for their FULL name and let them know they need to code your phone call as a B9, Do Not Call, after you hang up with them.

This company was raided by the feds a couple of years ago. They were there to look at what the agents were saying over the phone with their scripts. This is why they watch the agents to make sure they are not using any other scripts but their own. Sadly some managers turn a blind eye when their top sellers re-word the script to their own liking. I have one of those scripts that are used.

Thank God I don't work there anymore.

This company is nothing but a sham and as far as the BBB is concerned, they (Suntasia Marketing) weren't even listed on their site until recently that I found them. Only their sub companies were listed like Travel Agents Direct, Florida Passport or Way, Teleflex or Prism etc..

Many agents there are mis-representing themselves and you know it. Even if YOU were telling them (the customer) EVERYTHING concerning the "free" stuff you're offering, you know very well it's NOT.

How many times do agents at Suntasia say, "you have won this trip" or "because of a purchase you made at Costco (Walmart etc) you qualified for the vacation". Now I am not saying YOU are doing this but I know many agents there were and still are doing it. By the way before I forget, if you log onto the Better Business Bureau website you’ll see Distinct Advantage has 148 complaints against them in the last 36 months alone. They have an UNSATISFACTORY RATING (are you reading this Nomad?) with the BBB. Scroll down a bit on the site and you will also see a familiar number (727) 471-1416. Yes that’s right, you read it correctly! Suntasia Marketing’s promotion of Distinct Advantage was exposed once AGAIN but this time by the ABC affiliate KETV Channel 7 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Hhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?? Seems that a pattern is emerging here with this company and the media. This is the second tv news station that is an ABC affiliate which has exposed these crooks. KOMO TV Channel 4 in Seattle was the first to do it.

When I told you someone would get ticked off enough to do something about this company I wasn't kidding. Kalvin B sued Suntasia Marketing in small claims court in Arizona for calling his phone number and violating the DNC rule. The result was that he won a few hundred dollars but that's not here or there. The fact is that these crooks went too far and thus have to pay. He tells you how to do it in his NEW website called, "Suntasia Sucks". lol Pretty accurate if I say so myself. Plenty of good information in there to view and worth taking a look at.

Suntasia Marketing according to their website also promotes other programs such as Leisure City, Freedom Ring Long Distance Service, Monster Mastercard, Variety! Spice of Your Life and Credit Life.

I have been searching for information on the companies listed above but have found nothing as of yet. I will be updating the list as changes occur. So far everything that is being marketed by Suntasia has had an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB. Currently the products being promoted by them are Travel Agents Go Direct, FloridaWay, Prism, Distinct Advantage and Freedom Gold.

That's right! Frosted News in Fort Wayne, Indiana is warning all of its residents in the state about "Distinct Advantage". They sent out the warning on August 30th. They were informed by the Better Business Bureau News Service. Basically, the alert says that the agents misrepresent themselves and in the end your account gets debited. Don't give them any of your account information.

Don't fall for free airline ticket scam

FORTWAYNE (Better Business Bureau News Service)-If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Distinct Advantage, located in Largo, Fla., and whose type of business is a travel club, has been making calls to northeast Indiana residents offering them free gas vouchers and free airline tickets. All of this for free, right? The person on the other end of the line will then ask for your routing number, and then wants you to confirm you bank account number. STOP THERE! You could get a lot more than what you bargained for.

Distinct Advantage has a total of 145 complaints to date, concerning issues such as misrepresentation in selling practices, refund disputes, and delivery and billing issues. Consumers were told they would receive a free trial membership package prior to being charged. Before the trial period ends, however, money is being debited from their accounts.

Please do not give any information to anyone until you have completely checked the company out.

If consumers or business owners receive a call such as this from any company, please contact the Better Business Bureau toll-free at 1- 800-552-4631 or locally at (260) 423-44333, with information regarding the name of the company, how they are trying to get your account information, and whether they are asking for bank account or credit card account numbers.

A woman in McKeesport, Pennsylvania called her local news station b/c she got charged for a so called, “discount” package with the same bait scam, free gas and airline vouchers.

Shirley Smorey really believed she was getting $500 worth of free gas and airline vouchers but as usual the package got to her home late and thus Shirley got charged $59.99 membership fee plus the first monthly charge of $19.99. She also got a bounced check fee and is now out more than $113. Yes it’s typical folks that the people who are responsible in promoting this scam Suntasia Marketing in Largo don’t take the heat for it b/c everyone thinks it’s Distinct Advantage that is the only one involved. Make no mistake about it Suntasia is FULLY behind selling the products of Distinct Advantage, Travel Agents Go Direct, Prism, Freedom Gold and other names as well.

Hey Telemarketer! You stay in business b/c of your "slick" wording in your script. It just amazes me how the employees at Suntasia are in such denial and can continue defending such a questionable company.

The few that had the guts to defend this shameless company in this forum, all were proven to look mighty stupid when the evidence was presented to them. None of them has YET to acknowledge the three news reports by the different television stations around the country which have exposed your company as a scam.

NO! They do listen, it's the agents more often than not that misrepresent themselves in order to get the sale. Then when the recording starts everything is changed.

Of course you don't you fool. That's b/c Suntasia Marketing like everybody else in this business purchases the names and addresses from a third party company but your agents say you qualify for the "free" vacation due to a purchase they've made through Walmart, Costco or whatever. The problem here is that you guys NEVER send the packages out in time for the so called "free" trial to begin and thus the customer gets billed. When the customer wants to cancel that's when they realize ALL the stuff they have to do to get a refund. You make money by scamming them into giving up their account number so you can quickly bill them.

Have questions? Lol. Lol. Lol. You've got to be kidding me. When the customer starts asking too many questions the agents tell them to call customer service when they recieve the package if they have any problems. Of course the agent NEVER tells the customers there are 3 different numbers to call if they want to cancel or that they have to write the company a letter if they want a refund. Oh but wait I forgot there's a $29 processing fee in the fine print that the customer pays once they recieve the refund which is never revealed until the end. The only reason you like being a telemarketer in this company is b/c it's NOT your money that's being debited illegally. You're a crook!

You continue with the blame game by pointing the finger at the customer but refuse to look at your own stupidity. This is why you guys got caught before by the attorney general. You're a joke kid. Like it or not Suntasia is a scam!

Recently, some members have received calls from a company that calls itself "Distinct Advantage Rewards." They say they are authorized to give Gesa members a $100 gas voucher and a $400 travel voucher, all they need is your Gesa account number and other private information.

THIS IS A SCAM. They are not acting for Gesa and they are not giving away anything. They are scam artists trying to get your financial information for fraudulent purposes.

HANG UP on them, and report the call to the Consumer Protection Division of the State of Washington at 800-551-4636.

If you have given out private information about your account to anyone in this or a similar scenario, please call the Share Drafts Department immediately for information on how to protect your account. Monday-Friday, call 509-946-1611 or toll-free at 888-946-4372. If you need immediate attention on a Saturday, you may call the Kennewick Branch at 509-783-2117.
