Somebody's selling my info to these scum bags.

This place buys tens of thousands of names, so watch out.
They have a marketing call center pulling off this scam...
1-800-853-9982 is the number I dialed.

If you hear the name Aaron Holladay and anything "membership" yell fraud in their face.

"Not interested" calle
Hello everyone. I've had several calls from (727) 471-1412. They call at least twice a day. Today, they called, and this is what happened.
**for protection, Bob is replaced from actual name being used.
(this guy is very persuasive)
Agent Travel Network. "Hi Bob!"
Me. "umm..Hi"
Agent Travel Network. "My name is Mario and I'm with Agent Travel Network."
Me. "ummm..."
Agent Travel Network. "Well..this isn't a sales call. You probably get those every day!!! Don't you? Anyways, you bought something from us, and we're gonna send you to a 3-day, 2-night vacation to a resort. How does that sound?"
Agent Travel Network. "But, wait, you wouldn't want to go alone........."
Me. *interrupts him* "I'm busy and don't have time for vacations."
Agent Travel Network. "But, this isn't a sales call. Keep that in mind."
Me. "NOT INTERESTED."
*instant click by them occurs*

Yesterday, they called twice.

Agent Travel Network': "hello Bob there?"
Me. "No"
Agent Travel Network. *instant click*

*another call*

Agent Travel Network. "Hey Bob!?!?:
Me. "Who is this."
Agent Travel Network. "I'm George."
Me. "and..who are you with?"
Agent Travel Network. "I can't say unless you are Bob."
Me. "NOPE."
*instant click*

there are other calls too by these guys..They are live people but seem to INSTANTLY click when you say "not interested".
I've TOLD them over 3 times politely that I'm not interested, yet they seem to call. The 3rd time they called, they tried to become very clever and persuasive. I didn't fall in, I'm not that dumb. I don't know how to stop these guys from calling.
"Not interested" calle
I've had other calls that I've waited and they've asked for checking account numbers, and later in the conversations they are mentioned. I just don't have everything recorded for those to be added on here.
"not interested' caller
If you have Qwest, you can block them from calling. You can block up to 15 people for a cost of $4.50 a month.

Qwest is in Nebraska, Colorado, Arizona.....they don't have it in California..

Just to let you know, I posted before you. I've just decided to change my number all together. I don't need this s**t. They are messing up a personal line for me and close friends n family. The last call from them, which was not even an hour ago, I told them to "F**k off" and hung up.

It's getting sickening as to where that number (727-471-1415) is popping up on my cell phone EVERYDAY. They are calling more than anyone else does...

If you don't want them to call, you need to politely listen to their sales spiel. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT NUMBERS. Express consern, ask them who they are, where they are located, if they have a www site, and how you can call them back. After you have sufficient information then you need to ask them to place your telephone number on their do-not-call list. Make sure they know your telephone number by telling them what it is, and repeat that you want them to add your number to their do-not-call list. Then if they call back again twice within a year you can sue them. Of course, if they call your cell phone using an automated calling system then you can sue them from the get-go.

I nicely listened to their whole "deal" and then when asking them where they got the information they already had (my name, city/state, bank name, bank city/state, and bank routing number) they got upset because i wouldn't "verify" the information they had and hung up on me. they keep calling atleast twice a day. i did talk to my bank, who said that they obviously don't have enough information since they keep calling - but said that they probably do have enough information on me to be doing credit card fraud - and that i should notify the credit boroughs of possible fraud in my name. i recommend everyone to do the same. they have obviously hit the whole united states since i'm in the east coast, some that have reported on here are in the west, and i know of people in the midwest as well.

also - be aware - today they tried to act like they know me personally. when they called i immediately said to stop calling me (since they have been for more than a week) and they said "why would i stop calling you, i'm in love with you" and then told me i had three guesses to guess who they are - probably trying to get names of people i know. so don't let them fool you in that way.

If someone calls you in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), then you can sue them for $1,500 per violation. The TCPA is a Federal Act with a private right of action in State court. It doesn't matter what State you are in.

To know whether or not a call is in violation of the TCPA, you need to read the law (47 USC 227) and the FCC's rules promulgated under that law (47 CFR 64.1200). Searching the www for those terms should get you lots of sites with lots of information about the TCPA.

I'm afraid that at some point you become someone who was fun to play with. What is probably happening is that they keep calling you back because you are fun to talk to, from their point of view.

If you want them to stop calling, ask them to take you off of their list. At this point that may not work because they are having fun with you and they may just start calling you from pay phones, etc.

The best thing to do is when they call you in the first place, just ask them to take you off their list. Don't get excited or angry, it's pointless. To them it's just a job unless you do something that makes you stand out as someone who is fun to call.

If they keep calling, don't get angry or creative, just act bored and ask them to take you off their list and let them know, calmly, that you aren't interested. They will get bored and stop when you aren't fun to call anymore.

You can also sue them if they call back again, but odds are they won't after you stop being fun to call.

Your situation is different than most people. In your case, they aren't trying to sell you anything anymore, they are just messing with you.

It can be somewhat confusing, but the way it works is that they are supposed to have two types of lists; call list(s) and do-not-call list(s). When you ask them not to call you anymore, they are supposed to record your request and put your number on their do-not-call list(s). Then they are supposed to "scrub" their call list(s) with their do-not-call list(s) such that they remove all the numbers that are on their do-not-call list(s) from their call list(s).

So if you tell them to put your number on their list, or take your number off their list, and you don't specify what list you are talking about, it can be somewhat confusing. To be absolutely clear, you should tell them that you don't want to receive any more calls from them on behalf of any company, then tell them your telephone number (don't assume they know it because they called you), and finally ask them to put your telephone number on all of the do-not-call lists that they maintain (or tell them to take your number off of all the call lists that they maintain).

Hey I just wanted to say that i got 2 calls from them today, I'm in Nebraska...one of my friends told me to search the # on Google and this site is what i found, so thanks for being helpful everyone. I actually called the non-emergency number here in my town before i found this site and all they would tell me is that I could talk to a police officer, not much help at all if i do say so. Does anyone know where they got my number from or anyone else's number for that matter??

This morning I received a call from a Tom Evans who claimed that sometime in the last 9 months I had used my ATM to purchase something and I had won $100 in gas and $400 in travel vouchers. They wanted to send them to me and just wanted to "verify" some information. I don't usuallygive out anything like that, but he seemed to know my address but needed my condo #. He also asked me what bank that I bank with and I was leery at first, but then he didn't ask me for an account # or routing #, so I figured that it was all right. The last thing he asked me for was a password. I didn't want to give him that either , but he said it was only going to be to verify it was me and so I made up one on the spot. As soon as I gave him the password the phone went dead. Do I have anything to worry about?

Hey xxmoxmoxx, which number did they call you from?

Be prepared to get calls from these guys at least twice a day. After telling them no at least 5 times now, they call even more, and they hang up on me when I pick up the phone. 5 days ago, I signed up with Do Not Call list (www.donotcall.gov) And in about 27 days, they can be fined for calling. I urge everyone to do the same. Please reply xxmoxmoxx.

I've gotten five calls from 727-471-1416 in the past two days. The last call came in about 20 minutes ago, but I did not answer because I was asleep. I've called the number back, and I get a recording asking me if I want to remove my number and lose out on "unspecified" cost-saving offers. Well I asked to have my number removed, and I'm pretty worried all this is going to do is confirm that they have a working number and that they'll start calling me even more.

We'll soon find out.

For those of you wondering how to make them stop calling, I've found that not answering ever tends to get them to stop after a while. Of course, this only works if you have some form of caller ID.

It appears that these people have a relationship with a telephone company known as Habla Communicationes out of Arlington, Texas...Habla farms out it's collections work to Mexico, that apparently is where they are getting their telephone information..They called me from 727/471-1418 and tried to take a credit card payment over the phone for my phone bill. Only problem is I'm an ex-cop with 34 years of investigative experience and after a few dumb questions I was able to make this connection...beware and good luck!

I have recieved the call a few times in the last couple days, and finally answered it this morning. They seemed to know all my information already, but now that I think about it, it's really starting to scare me. I'm living away from home, so the address they had is for my parents house, where they said they would send everything. It sounds to me like it could get dangerous. . .any advice for me? (also when they asked for my bank account, i wasn't thinking all too clearly so i gave it-they already had my routing number- and now i'm scared)

go to your bank NOW and close your account...if they have already gotten to it fill out a dispute form and you'll get your money back in about 4 days...RUN don't walk to your bank..see the above as to where they may have gotten your parent's info...the routing number has to do with the city and state of the particular bank...beware and good luck!

I thought it was funny that earlier today...I was out, and when I came home found 727-471-1418 on my caller id. It said Suntasia Inc on my caller id. I started investigating who they were..and was on your website, reading everyone's responses and they called again! I said "Hello" and he said, "Is this such and such" I said Yes...and then I said..."Oh you must be with the company I'm reading about right now on the internet"...he said "What company?" I said "well..Suntasia Inc, and a few others" Then I said "remove me from your list and don't call here again." The guy acted surprised, but said "Yes sir...I will remove you from our calling list and if you have any problems, call our customer service number." Which he didn't give before he hung up. The calls just started today and it was funny and coincidental that I happened to be on this site and one other one looking up who Suntasia is. Thanks for the heads up, though I would never give out any bank account or credit card info.
I'm in Michigan by the way....heads up all!

Sometimes I'm surprised at what people will do if people ask them to. It doesn't make any sense that someone could "win" a contest they didn't enter, or that someone would have any need to have your banking information in order to give you something.

People need to stop and think about whether or not something makes any sense. Someone wrote a long time ago and it's still true today:

No one can take advantage of you without your assistance.

People need to stop and think about whether or not something makes any sense.  Someone wrote a long time ago and it's still true today:

No one can take advantage of you without your assistance.

Well I learned my lesson from one bad experience years ago. It was related to my business. I was trying to get a small business loan. I faxed information to someone I thought was legitemate, including an image of a blank check...with VOID across it and the signature line torn out...Well, of course they created a fake check and proceeded to use a check number way out of line with my current check numbers. The bank caught it and called me. They got over $3,000 out of my business checking account, but the money was put back. This happened about 6 years ago. I'm much more careful now about who gets any banking information, though when I look back, it was a stupid thing to do.

I live in Maryland and was first called several days ago and told Distinct Advantage (understand they go by several names) I wasn't interested after they asked for the numbers on my checks. Then just hung up. Yesterday I got another call and decided to get more info to determine exactly who they were and what their scam was. Of course, I wasn't going to give my banking account numbers. When I told them why I wouldn't give it, they told me the numbers couldn't be used to debit my account (yeah right!).

This morning I researched "Distinct Advantage". It's web site ( Distinct-Advantage.net ) gives no contact info and is very vague. So I went to google and found this site. Now I've learned that I'm not alone. In fact, people have been targeted all over the U.S.

So, I suggest that we all start targeting them. A complaint should be filed with the FTC. And also with your state Attorney General's office. I've already put together a package of material acquired from the Internet on their fraudulent activities, including printing the comments posted here (most helpful). To me, simply requiring to return money that has been fraudulently acquired is not sufficient. Since it is apparent that criminal acts are being committed, these people need to be prosecuted. Hopefully, by the Attorney General Offices in every state they've defrauded people.
Stop calling me too
Yea, they've called me all week and left no voice mail. I'm glad I looked this up. Thanks. this is called "Phishing" and it's becoming more and more prevalent.

It looks like this is a basic membership club, and someone decided that they could make more money by saying they need the banking information to confirm something instead of saying that it is to pay for the membership.

It's also possible the whole thing is a just a scam, but if it was just a scam from day 1, they probably wouldn't bother with a website.

Luckily, there are a limited number of people stupid enough to give out their checking account information. This will probably go away all by itself. There can't be enough people that are stupid enough to keep this going for very long.

Having said that, if you are on the national do-not-call list, this is obviously a violation and should be reported.

i don't know who these Suntasia Inc. people are, but i just received a call from them. I recently moved to a new metro area and inadvertently did not get an unlisted number.

The phone call began with this guy telling me that he was calling about my "checking account" and proceeding to tell me all about the wonderful freebies that he was going to send me.

I stopped him mid conversation and told him it sounded like a scam. He became very defensive and ended up hanging up on me.

I did a search under their name and found this site.

I am in Ohio - does anyone know to whom this should be reported?

Oh - the number for this company is 727-471-1414.

Thanks!

I just recieved the same phone call, the only thing is that they called my cell phone. When I told them I wasn't interested, they hung up on me too. I am also in Ohio. I am also looking to see who to report this too.

I have gotten three calls within the past three days from 727-471-1414 on my cell phone. I didn't answer because I didn't reconize the number. I googled the number and found this website. It's a Colorado number. I'm going to be out of the country for 6 weeks starting Monday, and my phone will be off the whole time. I'm planning on ignoring all calls until then. However, if they are still calling in Dec, I'll come back to this site. smile.gif Good luck everyone.

Hi all.. looks like they are using a new # too... 727-471-1413.

Was asked for me by my first name. I didn't respond. Just asked who was calling. She said, "It's ok. Something is wrong with her checking account, we'll call back later" and they hung up.

Scum bags!
