I was duped by these people today. They refuse to let me cancel until I receive my package. After reading here I was worried about being charged before I get the package or getting it after the cancel date.

Should I just go ahead and change my checking account number?

I cant believe I fell for this as I have been able to sniff out all other scammers.
Joe
Well BB I am not surprised by your problem. I am sure April in customer service will say you were just too "dumb" to understand the recording. Remember, Suntasia is NEVER at fault in their eyes.

I suggest you call the bank to cancel your account and open up a new one. They will understand the situation b/c they're aware of these crooks. As a matter of fact Florida Telco Credit Union recently released an alert on their website warning customers against giving out their checking account info over the phone to Suntasia specifically.

Here is the link if you missed it.

Florida Credit Union Warns It's Customers About Suntasia

Next, I would send them a certified CEASE and DESIST letter to their corporate address so they can no longer have contact with you. Let them know that you no longer wish to have anything to do with their company in any capacity whatsoever.

Don't wait another minute. Get started now. Take this as a lesson well learned.

Help,

I screwed up and gave out my bank info today! I realized what I did right after the call ended and immediately called my credit union to see if they could block payment. It is a major hassle to close the account and open a new one. The credit union representative I spoke to stated that unless I have the account information (from Suntasia or Travel Agents Direct or whoever), they could not block them from accessing my account. Can someone who was charged by these scam artists please tell me Suntasia's account information? It would be a lot more convenient to block them than change the account, but I'll change it if I have to. Do they ever let anyone cancel without charging anything?

Thank you for your help and any info you can provide.

Account info? The only thing your credit union needs to know is that Suntasia Marketing will not be allowed to debit your account. I suggest you send them a certified CEASE and DESIST letter to their corporate lawyer Donald Booth letting him know you will NOT allow his company to touch your account and if they do then Suntasia WILL be liable.

Their address is 8751 Ulmerton Road, Largo Florida 33771. I believe they bank with Wachovia or Washington Mutual. Personally I would just go through the hassle of getting a new bank account. This way you know for sure Suntasia can't take any money out.

Don't let them bully you. Stand up for your rights.

I will say that I did call and get a cancellation confirmation number from Distinct Advantage and have not been charged anything yet.

I also called TeleLink? and cancelled the long distance card and got a cancellation number code from them as well.

Is there another one that I need to call?

No charges have been applied just yet.

Yeah you forgot about the 7 day review of Freedom Gold which if you don't cancel, they will deduct $149, unless you didn't accept that package at the time of the recording.

Spoke too soon. They ended up stealing my money anyways even though I cancelled all 3 before the free trial period was over and after I had received my package.

Will see what they say when I call them tomorrow.
Joe
Well BoogerBomb it doesn't surprise me you were charged before the so called "free" trial was up. This is one of the reasons why Suntasia Marketing is being investigated by the Feds in Florida as we speak. From what I know and this is coming from the top, they (suntasia) have hired an outside law firm to handle this matter. It seems like Donald Booth may be over his head but who knows. For a company like them to hire another team of lawyers in order to handle their own mess is saying something. It was made clear to me from the head guy in Tallahassee that Suntasia will be under the radar like a microscope from now on although the investigation is far from over. They are licensed to do business in Florida but that does not give them the right to steal your money.

I suggest you do the following immediately.

1. Call your bank and have your money refunded. By law you have 60 days to dispute a wrongful transaction. Most banks will have your money back into the account within days.

2. Write a CEASE and DESIST letter to the corporate office and address it to Donald Booth advising him that you no longer wish to have any contact with his company whatsoever . Also demand a refund in the letter and let him know you were charged without permission before your trial period ended.

Corporate address is:

Suntasia Marketing, Inc.
8751 Ulmerton Rd
Largo, FL 33771

3. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau explaining what happened. They in turn will contact Suntasia for a response. This is another way to get your money back b/c Suntasia hates it when they have to respond to complaints from the BBB. They rather just resolve the matter most of the time by giving a refund.

Suntasia's BBB link to report a dispute is below.

http://www.bbbwestflorida.org/commonreport.html?bid=11002452

4. Call your state attorney generals office and file your complaint with them as well. As it stands now there are alot of complaints on this company in many other states other than florida. To report them in Florida the number is 1-800-help-fla. Hit 1 for English then press 5 to get a live agent so they can document your case.

The more people speak up the better we will all be. The ball is now in your court to do something.
BoogerBomb
They are saying that I have to mail a letter requesting a refund in order to get my money back. I now have several other letters to write. What happened is that when I called the freedom gold number to cancel it said I was scheduled for cancellation which I now know is a flat out lie to keep you from going further and doing the real cancellation.

I wish I had the money to sue for deceptive business practices but I dont so I am pretty much just screwed because I just know that they will say tough shit you cant have a refund.

God they better be glad I dont own a gun.

Cant get anything on that BBB site. It claims that company information is being updated so I have to wonder now if Suntasia got them to just remove everything.
Joe
No Boogerbomb! There is a complaint link on the BBB site so you can file one. Just look at the top of the webpage. Click below.

http://www.bbbwestflorida.org/complaintsearch.html

As far as being screwed you have to be constantly on top of them b/c eventually you'll get your money back. You just have to cover everything from all angles. The more of a pain in the ass you are to them the more they'll want to get rid of you by settling out.
BoogerBomb
Yeah I found that link and filled one out. I wouldnt be so mad if they would just give the information when they sucker you in and send the package. I only remember authorizing Distinct Advantage to withdrawl, not Freedom Gold but I dont know. It would have been nice for them to tell me to keep the card to return it for refund and to call all three numbers and talk to live person to cancel.
