Full Version: Global Info Group Boiler Room Operations Busted!
Californians Against Telephone Solicitation (CATS) > Telemarketing > Telemarketing-General
Joe
Global Information Group is a boiler room operation company in Tampa, Florida which staffed over 70 agents handling the phones pretending to be customers or employees while actually calling communication companies like Verizon, Alltel, Sprint and others in order to obtain your personal cell phone records so they could sell them.

They had a "How to Guide" to trick your cell phone provider to give up the information. Global had new hires reading from a carefully worded "script" to make the unsuspecting representitive of the phone company on the other side think that they were actually talking to their "customer". When that would fail the global agent would pretend to be a "technician" of the phone company needing to verify a service line for the so called, "customer".

Talk about having the BALLS to do something like this but the Florida Attorney General isn't playing around. They have filed suit against this company. Global NOW says they no longer contact any communications companies but according to one employee, they still do. Only now they use Metro PCS phones b/c they are untraceable.

Reporter Jackie Calloway of ABC Action News in Tampa exposed this shameful company. Her segment on the newscast is named, "Call to Action" and it is part of a nationwide program to help fight fraud and assist consumers in their complaints against shady businesses.
