Florida Travel Companies Offer Refunds To Settle Allegations
TALLAHASSEE -- Four Florida-based travel companies, including two employing celebrity spokesman Robin Leach, will provide full and partial refunds to settle allegations
that they duped consumers into buying vacation packages, Attorney General Bob Butterworth announced today.
The companies fronted by Leach are National Travel Services Inc. and Plaza Resorts Inc., both based in Fort Lauderdale and owned by James H. Verrillo and Daniel Lambert.
The other two companies entering agreements with the states are Treasure Island-based Florida Travel Network Inc., owned by James Herron Sr. and Vance Vogel, and Crown Plaza Resorts, owned by Vogel.YEAH THE NOW "DEFUNCT" FLORIDA TRAVEL NETWORK. LOL
http://www.bbbwestflorida.org/commonreport.html?bid=45000235"Through various solicitations, all of the companies led consumers to believe they had won free vacations," Butterworth said. "What
they got instead was a high-pressure sales pitch to pay as much as $1,000 for a seven-day Florida vacation and a 'Bahamas cruise.' In some instances, the Bahamas cruise amounted to a one-day ferry ride and a game of bingo."
Butterworth said some consumers who paid for vacation packages were provided substandard accommodations and
subjected to lengthy sales presentations for time shares.YEAH IT'S ALL THAT "FREE" STUFF YOU GAVE AWAY NOMAD. LOL
In addition to refunds,
the companies agreed to modify their marketing practices to prevent future misrepresentations to consumers.I GUESS NOMAD THE MORE THINGS CHANGE THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME. LOL
