Full Version: Awards And Claims Center
Californians Against Telephone Solicitation (CATS) > Telemarketing > Telemarketing-General
Joe
Has anyone recieved a call coming from an "Awards and Claims Center" saying that I filled out a form online and that my ticket was pulled for a Cadillac Escalade. They were going to award me one of their "top" major prizes. Red flags here if you listen to the message closely, it makes it sound like you've "won" a Cadillac when in fact you're going to be awarded a "top major prize."

Next, I looked up the phone number 866-999-3703 in Google and in comes up as nothing. No data. I also did a reverse phone lookup and it was nothing, although one of the reverse phone lookup sites claimed to have the info but wanted me to pay for it which I refuse to.

Finally and I think this is the BIGGEST red flag of all is she left only her last name (Miss Parker) with the extension but didn't give the name of her company. When I called it, there was just a voicemail so I'm I assuming it's from the west coast since I called them around 10:30 am EST. I let her know to my number off the list and that I didn't appreciate calls with little or no information since I did look up the number which came up blank.

If anyone has receieved calls like these and has any iformation on it, please share it with us. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE LIKE THIS ARE SNEAKY AND DECEITFUL.

Again the number is 866-999-3703.

Thanks,

Joe

MSN search of (866 999 3703) gets a telemarketer out of Chicago. Sounds like the Ford Explorer scam. Pre-recorded calls from Awards Claims Center, a company out of Deland FL. Sued by Verison and others. Check out Mike's Blog for more info. Thanks for your Suntasia posts.

The prerecorded message that started this thread was probably made to promote a tour of a local "vacation club" company. The most recent such calls in my area were made by International Telemarketing Centers (located in FL), and if you pressed a number on your telephone in response to the call then you were transferred to a call center run by Sonnenschein Marketing Services and Sonnenschein Financial Services (located in IL).

Received one of these calls "won a car" today. Some red flags and found this site when I was doing some checking of phone numbers.

I suggest you email your state's attorney general's office with the 866-999-3703 number and your report. The number captured by my caller id was 773 493-0895 so I'm going to report that one too. Strength in numbers. The call was placed to my home phone which is on the state's DO NOT CALL list.

Just received a call last night on the machine stating that I need to call an 800# (800-960-0083).

One person left a message and said I need to talk to another person. Just wanting to find out how it is and tell them not to call I called back. Still waiting for them to call me back.

Red Flags: No company name, No contest name, No last names, They did not say I won just that my ticket had been pulled.

Beware of all these numbers

1-866-999-3703
1-773-667-7590
1-773-667-7588

I received a call yesterday, June 25, 2006, informing me that I won my choice of a Cadillac Escalade or $50,000 in cash plus the choice of 4 other prizes. I was given my confirmation number#ITC507 and was told to report to:

Horizon Travel at Double Tree Hotel
789 Connecticut Ave.
Norwalk, CT 06854

To bring my Spouse, 2 forms of ID, and that we must check the box off $45,000 or more for combined yearly income, etc. and that we would also be given each a scratch ticket after a 90 minute presentation on the way out which was a choice of 5 different prizes.

Needless to say, we were taken into a room to fill out the one sheet of paper which is a simple questionare and then told to wait in the room. Well it didn't take long for different SALESMEN to come back into the room and start pulling each couple out politely.

We were left behind with 2 other couple's and a Salesman broke the news that the presentation was over booked and that we had the choice of getting our prizes now and leaving or listening to a quick presentation on there Horizon Travel Gold Package for $8,995.00 and if we decided to purchase it today it would be $1,000.00 less $7,995.00.

We all decided to opt out of the presentation and redeem our prizes. Low & behold we were each given a scratch off ticket. I asked them where my Cadillac Escalade was parked and that I actually preferred the $50,000 that I was told I won and was given a confiramation # for and they went on to say that they can not afford to give everyone a cadillac escalade and that someone must have made a mistake.

I told them that I was going to report them tomorrow to the State Attorney Generals Office & I am taking this to media also because this Salesman explained that they were just opening an office there and it sounds like some other scams on this website. I think it is aweful to prey on innocent people & something NEEDS to be done immediately!!

I was contacted several times on my cell phone and they left several messages. The numbers were (773) 493-0979 then the person who actually told me that I was a winner was Teresa at 1-866-999-3703 ext. 224. Beware becausde these people are combining Prize Claim center, Holiday Vacations.

I too received the same call today and some Jasmin gave me the same telephone number (1-866-999-3703) with extension 242 and the claim # ITC520. I am lucky to find this forum before driving all the way to the location they provided to me (in Tampa, FL).

Can you please tell me how to report this to State Attorney Generals Office? I too want to report this incident.

Thanks.

My husband received a call from 773-667-7594 "The Awards And Claims Center" in Chicago. I tried to get an address for this company, but they REFUSE to give their contact information out via AT&T - their phone company. I am NOT paying Intelius, Inc. $19.95 for information which should be available for FREE! A legitimate business would be happy to share its contact information with potential customers. We KNEW it was a scam because we haven't entered any contests lately, and we haven't been to Chicago since the late '90's! mad.gif

I also received a call from "Prize Claim Center", who said that they were out of Chicago; they got my name from Travel Partners, who is a company that I will be bringing suit to over their TCPA violations. THey said that I was in the final running for an Escalalde or 3 other prizes, the worst being a new television. The number they gave me was 888 or (773) 493-8245 # 113, and the rep.'s name was Steven; his supervisor's name was "Eric Martin". Steve said that he worked for "Prize Claim Center", but Eric later said that the name of the company was Limited Marketing. I wonder if they are outsourced to get people to show up to venues (it seems like travel companies are a common theme) to receive sales pitches but not their prize. I'll be checking the Illinois State Attorney's Office unless on e of you beats me to it... smile.gif

Last week I was contacted by Ashley Bland in Chicago @800-816-3292 and her supervisor Michelle Bentley @ 800-293-7105. Today I was contacted by Samantha Boyd 800-511-7112 but the caller ID was for Tom Shapiro at 215-774-1604. They gave me the same line so I asked if I was getting 2 prizes. Samantha had no idea what to say and concluded the call. I did set a meeting with them for Sunday just out of curiousity. I have a claim number and I have since emailed Ashley back to clarify why I was getting a call from Samantha today. We'll see what happens.

I guess Award Claims Center have changed their phone number. A lady name Lynn called me yesterday and stated i won a 2006 Cadillac Escalade. My caller ID showed number 708/758-2230 but when she left a voice mail she said call toll free 800-476-9508 with my confirmation number ITC2200. I called her back she told me to drive to 5101 Washington Street , Gurnee, IL 60031 bring two forms of id and credit card and check book. i am glad i looked this up on google before Thurday came.

I received a phone call last night from 1-773-288-8154 Labeled "Mitchell C" Claiming that I had won one of 5 prizes including an Escalade... My husband and I were very cautious about this and when she called me back today I asked her where this contest was held and she said that it was through my mastercard.. If you used your mastercard last year at a certain time you were put in a drawing to win one of these prizes... She continued on to tell me my Claims ID "ITC551" and then asked if I was married. I told her yes.. she then asked if I was 25-75 in age. I told her unfortunatly I was only 22. She asked me if I had someone that could "trust" go to pick up my prize in that age range and I said no. (I was not about to involve my family on a scam) She then apologized and told me that I was no longer in the runnings and I hung up. I'm SO GLAD I found this website. It's nice to know that other people have received this call and that I'm not alone.. I also had someone last week call my home trying to give me $2,000 worth of free coupons and a free 2 day vacation because I'm a new mom... I thought it was legit at first.. She said all I had to do was pay for my shipping and handling.. Then after I gave her my credit card number she changed the story around all together and starting telling me that I would be billed every so many months for amounts ranging $20 - $60... I then realized that this had to be a scam. I got frightned and I called her back and canceled it all and JUST TO BE SURE I canceled my account and got a new card. I feel like such a fool for being scammed but I hear it more and more and now I have finally put my number on a NO SOLICITATIONS list. Hopefully that will help my phone to stop ringing so much! We'll see.

I just got my 4th call from the Awards and Claims Center. My caller ID placed it as "Mitchell's Communications". The # is 773-493-0961. I couldn't get through when I tried to recall the #. I found that if you go into the name directory and press #, you can get a list of names and finally get through to someone.

The lady argued with me that I was not on the do not call list. She wouldn't give me her name. I filed a complaint on the "Do Not Call" site.

This is frustrating and a waste of my time. I have told them to remove me 4 times from their list.
mullenjen
If you were called by this number:
866-999-3703

You need to press # to get into the company directory by name. Then press # again to get some actual names of people. From there you can finally talk to someone.

What a scam these people have!!! I hope you reported the number to the "do not call registry."

They Called AGAIN!!!!10/3 at 7:05pm!!!!
pbadish
We received a call a couple of days ago, same numbers as everyone else. I guess they are moving around, and they are now in St. Lucie West, Port St. Lucie, Florida. We were told that we definitely won a Cadillac or a 30" Flat Screen TV and to come to the Hampton Inn in St. Lucie West. They wanted a lot of personal information on the phone, but we refused and they still gave us a claim number for the so-called prize. We went down there and Event Planners was there and wanted us to fill out a one-sheet paper and then attend a 90 minute presentation. Not telling us anything else.

We said no way were they getting our driver's license, social security number or credit card information and then more was explained to us and we were told it was a travel presentation for Gold Crown Travel and a promotional thing. We told them we were lied to by their telemarketers and she apologized and told us we did not have to do the presentation and she would give us a prize anyway and came out with some stupid vacation getaway which you have to put money up front to get and then jump through hoops to get your money back. Rules and Regulations to the max.

We walked out, but were amazed at how many older people there were actually filling out the paperwork with all their personal information and attending the presentation.

Unreal......after they were practically scammed into purchasing their huge travel package, they were probably then scammed into take one of the so-called prizes, which I am sure they will have to pay for as well.

I called the Hampton Inn & Suites and am going to talk to the Corporate Office on Monday. Police cannot do anything because they are just in the limits of the law as well on Private property (The Hampton's). I am turning all the telemarketers numbers into the Do-Not-Call Department because they are soliciting as far as we are concerned and we are listed on there.

The telemarketers called us (5) TIMES YESTERDAY AFTER OUR 4:00 PM VISIT AND WE TOLD THEM WE DID NOT CLAIM A PRIZE (THEY DO NOT GET PAID UNLESS WE GET SOMETHING) AND WE TOLD THEM NO, BUT THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH BECAUSE THEY JUST KEEP HARRASSING US. TODAY WE RECEIVED (5) CALLS FROM THEM AS WELL.

Did anyone have any luck with getting them trouble with any government entities, because we are at a loss here.

My suggestion is to get the media involved. Call your local tv news station and let them know about your bad experience with this company. When the cameras show up it's a different story. There are plenty of national news organizations as well that love story ideas like this. For example, there is 20/20 with John Stossel, Dateline NBC with Stone Phillips. All you have to do is google the name of the show and get their site so you can submit your story.

Believe me when you have the media exposing these crooks everyone is suddenly alerted and before you know it an investigation is being launched. If you think it won't help you're fooling yourself. Just click on the links below and you'll see how the media has been hammering down on Suntasia Marketing lately for it's deceptive practices on their so called, "free" gas and travel vouchers.

We are in an election year in most parts of the country. It doesn't hurt to contact your state attorney generals office as well for an inquiry on these crooks.

I just got the call a few minutes ago saying that I had won a Escalade. The number was 773-667-7590 with the callback number 866-999-3703. I erased the message, typed in the numbers to Google. and found this board. I suspected a scam from the start and this just confirms it.

I was so glad to find this site. Mitchells Communications has been harassing me for the past five months even though I have asked them repeatedly not to call me. They have called me about 20 times. Over a two-week period they called me 10 times. What is absolutely amazing is that after I asked them not to call me and even hung up them on one occasion, they immediately called back. It's almost like it's a personal vendetta. However, I have never gotten to the exciting place where they have actually invited me to a place where they can give me their sales pitch.

I have a blocking system on my telephone package and have blocked most of their numbers -- but they have lots of them! I have contacted the attorney general's office for Iowa and Illinois (their primary calling center). I have also filled out a form 1088 (a complaint form) for the Federal Communications Commission. Needless to say, I have added all of these numbers to the "Do Not Call" list, but that is to no avail. Some of the numbers they have used are: 563-322-0208 (it comes up as Jill Clark on the caller ID); 773-667-7590 (C. Mitchell); 708-758-2076 (Premium Marketing), and 773-363-4177. There are others which I have lost track of.

Most businesses are courteous and willingly make sure they don't call once I have asked them not to. Mitchells Communications doesn't give a rip. I think they try to wear down their prey. But I haven't given up on trying to stop them (or at least slow them down). If enough of us complain, I think the FCC will take action.
laineyc
laugh.gif I have been able to stop most of the calls from the "Awards Center" or "Prize Center" by blocking their numbers. They have called only once in the past month, and I blocked that number as well. The FCC has been very unresponsive, even though I filled out a form 1088 and sent them a certified letter regarding the group's harassment. My next move will be to contact a senator from my state. My impression is that the "Do Not Call" list is a farce and that the FCC would rather not be involved in telemarketing scams. My best to all of you who are dealing with this same problem.
