I live in Maryland and was first called several days ago and told Distinct Advantage (understand they go by several names) I wasn't interested after they asked for the numbers on my checks. Then just hung up. Yesterday I got another call and decided to get more info to determine exactly who they were and what their scam was. Of course, I wasn't going to give my banking account numbers. When I told them why I wouldn't give it, they told me the numbers couldn't be used to debit my account (yeah right!).
This morning I researched "Distinct Advantage". It's web site ( Distinct-Advantage.net ) gives no contact info and is very vague. So I went to google and found this site. Now I've learned that I'm not alone. In fact, people have been targeted all over the U.S. So, I suggest that we all start targeting them. A complaint should be filed with the FTC. And also with your state Attorney General's office. I've already put together a package of material acquired from the Internet on their fraudulent activities, including printing the comments posted here (most helpful). To me, simply requiring to return money that has been fraudulently acquired is not sufficient. Since it is apparent that criminal acts are being committed, these people need to be prosecuted. Hopefully, by the Attorney General Offices in every state they've defrauded people. |

It looks like this is a basic membership club, and someone decided that they could make more money by saying they need the banking information to confirm something instead of saying that it is to pay for the membership.
It's also possible the whole thing is a just a scam, but if it was just a scam from day 1, they probably wouldn't bother with a website. Luckily, there are a limited number of people stupid enough to give out their checking account information. This will probably go away all by itself. There can't be enough people that are stupid enough to keep this going for very long. Having said that, if you are on the national do-not-call list, this is obviously a violation and should be reported. |

i don't know who these Suntasia Inc. people are, but i just received a call from them. I recently moved to a new metro area and inadvertently did not get an unlisted number.
The phone call began with this guy telling me that he was calling about my "checking account" and proceeding to tell me all about the wonderful freebies that he was going to send me. I stopped him mid conversation and told him it sounded like a scam. He became very defensive and ended up hanging up on me. I did a search under their name and found this site. I am in Ohio - does anyone know to whom this should be reported? Oh - the number for this company is 727-471-1414. Thanks! |

I have gotten three calls within the past three days from 727-471-1414 on my cell phone. I didn't answer because I didn't reconize the number. I googled the number and found this website. It's a Colorado number. I'm going to be out of the country for 6 weeks starting Monday, and my phone will be off the whole time. I'm planning on ignoring all calls until then. However, if they are still calling in Dec, I'll come back to this site.

Hi all.. looks like they are using a new # too... 727-471-1413.
Was asked for me by my first name. I didn't respond. Just asked who was calling. She said, "It's ok. Something is wrong with her checking account, we'll call back later" and they hung up. Scum bags! |

QUOTE This SUNTASIA INC Company has called My phone number no less then 11 times in three days and the number says its based in st. petersburg florida 727-471-1408 and they never leave a message but do not hesitate to call all hours of the day and night. I have a machine that scans all numbers that enter My phone line and doesent even ring Me if it is not a recognized number. I added a choice irate hello to the system that tells the phoner in no uncertain terms that their actions are being booted out My phones door and reported. Thanks for the site to add My isp to the complaint about the phisher crapolas. |

I've been called twice, once yesterday and once today.
Yesterday it was a layd, she sounded very nice and i didn't realize it could be a scam but she's going on make the vouchers sound great and all. Then she askes to verify my address, i say yes, then she asks me what bank i'm at. I asked who she was with she told me again, went back into the voucher thing. Keep in mind, i was half asleep when she called. So i tell her my bank name, and then she was like i just have to verify some numbers on the bottem of your check. I know that those numbers, the routing number and account number are basically all you need to write an 'electronic check' becuase i paid with one for tuition to my univeristy this year. So i told her i didn't have that information on me, and she persisted asking me if i had it memorized, and checks around, account numbers, i told her no and i didn't feel comfortable with her telling me the numbers. She made me feel stupid "you don't feel comfortable with me saying the numbers?!" After telling her i didn't she hung up. Today i got another call about 40 minutes ago and this time it was a guy. I knew i was intrested so he's going on and on about it and then confirms my address and wants my acount numbers. I told him i wasn't interested and he starts to go on and on again. I told him "Look dude, i'm not interested" he replied, "well Michael, you're still on the line" So i hung up on him. The reason i didn't hang up earlier is because i realize these people are trying to do their jobs (even if they do or don't believe they are in on a scam), i try not to be rude. Hopefully they stop calling but i doubt it. -Mike (Texas) |

Received a call this morning from a Ron Smith ID#139. Same stories as previous, but instead I attempted to recruit him to be a salesman for my company b/c he just would not take now for answer. He is really covincing whe he states he wis not going to take money from your account, of course I know better. I kept him on the phone for about 45 minutes, hoping to save another person from getting him on the phone and giving their personal information. Just don't give out our account information over the phone.

Nice. It's seems I've been struck by these knuckleheads as well. Thankfully, I didn;t pick up my phone because I didn't recognize the number. Complain to the FTC, that's what I'm doing....

I've been getting calls from them for weeks now. Usually 1-6 times a day. I never answer the phone when I dont know the number, so I've never answered when they call. I'm getting the 1418 number CONSTANTLY. Finally today I decided to lookup who the hell they are, and I found this thread. I decided to call the number back, and they had an option to remove my number from their "money saving offers" list. So far, they havn't called back. I'll keep you updated. P.S. Thanks whoever started this thread!!

HEY****READ THIS NOW****
Most of the time people jump to conclusions by pressing the number in the automated messaging before listening to the full menu. PRESS 3!!! Pressing 2 will not remove you from their system. I'm I only the second person who thought of calling them back? Call them back right now and get your name on the do not call list by pressing 3, 1, 1, and your done! (hopfully this does it) If not, I will find the source, and see how they like a monotauve cocktale through their window! Good luck! |

Hello to all! I wanted to say thanks to all of those people that answered their phones and found out that these calls were a scam. I started getting calls about three days ago from the number 727-471-1412 and now they are calling me about 3 times a day on my cell phone. Thankfully I never answer my phone when a random number calls, but I did decide to look up the number and found it coming from FL. I have a friend in FL but since I never received any voicemails I figured it couldn't be her. Well sorry about the babble, but in short I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who realized this was a scam, because if i did answer I probably would have gone along with it! I hate to admitt it but i can be very gullible! THANKS!

Hey Everyone, I have been getting 2 calls a day between 10 and 11 am est, and then between 6 and 7 pm. The calls come in on my cell phone and I do not answer them. Last night I called them back and told them to remove me from their lists, then they called again this morning. Very frustrating!!! I placed myself on the DO NOT CALL list at www.donotcall.gov but that does not go into effect for another 30 days. How is that helpful now? Has anyone filed a complaint with the FTC? If, so, did you get any sort of response? I am from Long Island, N.Y.
